These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the DotBGE app ("DotBGE", "the app", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What DotBGE is
DotBGE is a tool for encrypting and decrypting files on your own device, built on the open .bge format. It runs locally: there is no account and no DotBGE server involved in encrypting or storing your files.
2. Your keys and passwords are your responsibility
DotBGE encryption is real encryption. We cannot recover your data for you, because we never have access to your keys, passwords, or files.
- If you lose your private key, it cannot be recovered, and identity-encrypted files locked to it cannot be decrypted.
- If you forget a password used in password mode, the file cannot be decrypted.
You are solely responsible for backing up and safeguarding your keys and passwords.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use DotBGE in compliance with all laws that apply to you. You are responsible for the content you encrypt, decrypt, store, or share, and for ensuring you have the right to do so. You must not use the app to violate the rights of others or for any unlawful purpose.
4. Purchases
The app is free to download. BGE Pro unlocks additional features and is available as a one-time lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription, sold through the Apple App Store. Payments, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple under the terms of your App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple account settings.
5. Open format
The .bge file format is open and may be implemented by others. DotBGE is one implementation. Files created by DotBGE may be readable by other compliant tools, and DotBGE may read files created by them, subject to the format specification.
6. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DotBGE and its developers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, keys, or access to encrypted content, arising out of or relating to your use of the app.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always posted at this URL, with the date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
